The Cathedral's choirs
embrace differing types of repertoire
and various levels of vocal experience.

THE CHOIR OF ST. JAMES CATHEDRAL formerly the Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys, dates from 1898, when then-Choirmaster Dr. Albert Ham changed it in the tradition of the cathedrals of England. The now fully professional choir consists of men and women, and its repertoire embraces music from the 14th to the 21st centuries.

THE CATHEDRAL PARISH CHOIR is a volunteer choir with professional support, rehearsing Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00pm, serving the 9 o'clock Sunday service. The choir started in the late 1970s with Aubrey Foy under the direction of then-Assistant Organist Gerald Webster. Besides embracing the traditional parish choir repertoire it also explores newer musical & liturgical styles. The Parish Choir welcomes any lover of choral singing with a love of singing and a love of people.
