Gays, Lesbians & Friends

As a symbol of God's presence and love in our city, St. James' Cathedral provides a place of sanctuary and worship within the fullness of the liturgical tranditions of the Anglican Church offering all people generous hospitality, healing and hope with a respect for the diversity of God's people.

Within this context, Gays, Lesbians & Friends strives to build an all-inclusive community that embraces Christian values and spirituality.

Our Vision

  • To live, work, act and pray for the Christian community as a place of peace, freedom and inclusion where love between people, regardless of sexual orientation may be honoured, shared and celebrated;
  • To fulfil the baptismal covenant that declares that all people are full and equal members of the Body of Christ;
  • To be a resource for spiritual growth and social change, and a welcoming beacon of Christian hope;
  • To be a place to discuss relevant issues, serve the Church, learn our history and create a future.

GLF Summer BBQ, August 2010

Photo by Cathy Waiten

Great fun, food, and camaraderie was had by all at the annual Gays, Lesbians and Friends (GLF) BBQ hosted by Steve O’Brien (4th from right). Steve is the Chair of the GLF and says that the BBQ is provides an opportunity to catch up with friends in the congregation and also meet some new people. Watch for an announcement coming soon for a fall film festival!
