FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 
Who is welcome at St. James’ Cathedral?
Everyone. St. James’ Cathedral is an Anglican (Episcopal) church, which welcomes everyone regardless of tradition.
 
What time are services held?
Services take place everyday at the Cathedral.
Eucharist liturgies are held on Saturdays and holidays at 12:30pm, weekdays at 7:30pm and 12:30pm and on Sundays at 8:00am, 9:00am, 11:00am.
Morning Prayer is held on weekdays at 8:30am.
Evening Prayer is held on weekdays at 5:15pm. Choral Evensong is held on Sundays at 4:30pm.
 
May I take communion/eucharist/mass at the Cathedral?
All baptized persons are welcome to receive Holy Communion. Those not receiving communion may wish to receive a blessing. Please cross your hands over your chest to indicate this to the priest. Those who are receiving the bread only should do the same as the chalice bearer passes by. Those receiving the chalice are asked to assist the chalice bearer by grasping the cup at the base and guiding the cup to their lips.
 
If I make a donation to the Cathedral, will I receive a tax receipt?
Yes! All gifts of $20 or more will be acknowledged with a tax receipt at the end of the tax year. Please ensure that our office has your mailing address so that this can be sent to you.
 
Can I get married at the Cathedral?
Weddings at the Cathedral are celebrated by the Cathedral clergy on a regular basis. To learn more about this, you are invited to contact the Vicar (416-364-7865x235).
 
How can I volunteer at the Cathedral?
There are a number of volunteer opportunities available at the Cathedral. For more information about this, contact the office (416-364-7865). There are also a number of ways to participate in fellowship and lay ministry at the Cathedral.
